One year before the celebrations for the 4th centenary of the publication of the first part of Don Quixote in 2005, our Foundation organized a cycle of conferences on the imaginative dimension and the clash between reality and fiction that can be found in this work by Cervantes. From October to December in 2003, nine experts delivered different lectures, coordinated by Rogelio Reyes, that analyzed aspects such as the link between the writer and Seville, the improvisation in Don Quixote or the influence of the book in Andalusian painting. The project entitled Don Quijote y el mundo de lo imaginario. Una perspectiva interdisciplinar: pintura, literatura y música also included an exhibition and a series of concerts in the Hospital de los Venerables to commemorate the anniversary of one of the greatest works in world literature.
