Known as the “God of wood”, Juan Martínez Montañés’ output was notably prolific. José Hernández Díaz, an expert on sculpture and imagery, delves into the career of the artist, born in Alcalá la Real, who gathered tradition and modernity and interpreted artistic and religious guidelines of 16th and17th centuries. The volume, sponsored by our Foundation, includes unpublished photographs and shows and overall review of Martínez Montañés’ life course through biography aspects and his artistic work.
