Antonio de Solís S.J.

Antonio de Solís S.J. (1679-1764) wrote a detailed chronicle of the Professed House of the Society of Jesus in Seville during its first two centuries, an educational manuscript that was not meant for general public distribution. Solís delved into the history of the religious community, paying attention to the outstanding clergymen that lived in the House, with the aim of safeguarding their legacy and inspiring other members of the Society. Co-published by our Foundation and the Society of Jesus, the text –transcription, edition and notes by Leonardo Molina– was released two and a half centuries later to help understand the evolution of the community in Seville. The book also includes a great deal of information about the history of the city and Spanish society at that time.

Transcription, edition and notes: Leonardo Molina García S. J.
