Antonio Barrero Ripoll

In 2004, Antonio Barrero Ripoll, Professor of Fluid Mechanics of the University of Seville, was awarded the II Prize Javier Benjumea Puigcerver Research thanks to the outcome achieved in his research on electric atomization and nanofluids. These studies feature new techniques to create complex-structure nanoparticles using electrohydrodynamics, which is a cheaper and faster way when compared to other existing processes. This type of nanoparticles can be used in biomedicine, new material manufacture or pharmacology. In the latter case, administering drugs and design or encapsulating of medicines would benefit from this scientific progress.
